"MADA" Condemns shelling of National Agency for Media headquarters

Ramallh_18/7/2014: The Palestinian Center for Development and Media Freedoms(MADA)condemns the shelling of Israeli occupation forces to the National Agency for Media in Gaza Strip today morning; thus, sound technician Muhammad Shabat was injured, and their headquarters was destroyed. 

 

The general director of the agency Mustafa Muhammad Shihadeh reported to MADA:"Our office, which locates in Gaza city, Rimal neighborhood,Jawhara tawer,8th floor, was shelled today at 06:53 am by three rockets from an  Israeli Apache airplane without a previous warning. Doors, windows and glass of the offices, filming equipment, filming rooms, offices, studios and broadcasting were damaged;thus,the broadcasting was stopped.  

 

Mr.Shabbab added:" We were 35 people who are cameramen, journalists and  sound technician  at the office. When the first rocket landed, we withdrew towards ladder .When the second and the third rocket landed , sound technicians Muhammad Shabat was injured in the left hand. When he was transferred to Al-Shiffa Hospital, where he has stayed for two hours  ,he was informed that he sustained a fracture in the hand.

 

Israeli occupation forcesalso shelled Dawoud's tower today which contains a number of media outlets headquarters. Thus, some equipment of Sawt  Elwatan were hit and its' broadcasting was stopped another time since Israeli occupation forces shelled this tower two days ago . Two journalists, Ahmad Ejleh and Tareq Hamedieh, were injured and sustained bruises in their bodies, according to the statement of the radio director Lo'ui  Abu Mu'mar to MADA center. 

 

Israeli occupation forces killed the driver of "Media 24"'s car Hamed Shihab in a deliberate targeting on the ninth of this month. The journalist Asma Goul sustained slight injures two days ago as a result of the shelling a neighbor 's house. A number of Journalists' houses have been destroyed as result of shelling neighboring housessince launching Israeli aggression on Gaza Strip.

 

The Palestinian Center for Development and Media Freedoms(MADA) demands again the international community to keep pressure on Israeli occupation forces to stop their attacks on journalists and media outlets ,and appreciates journalists' efforts in covering Israeli aggression on Gaza Strip despite of facing dangers and hardships.
