Mada center call on to put pressure on Israel to prevent the shelling of Palestinian television

Mada Center expresses deep concern, about the Israeli occupation authorities’ threat, to bombard the headquarters of Palestine TV, in Gaza City, this morning.
This threat comes as a continuation of the Israeli occupation forces violations of media freedoms, in the Palestinian territories, in the framework of attempts aimed to conceal the crimes committed every day in the Gaza Strip, especially the massacres against Palestinian civilians, the latest of which was the massacre of Beit Hanoun.
The Center expresses its solidarity with colleagues in the Palestine TV, it calls upon the international community, particularly the institutions operating in the field of defending human rights, and media freedoms, to pressure the Israel government to prevent the implementation of its threat, to bombard the headquarters of Palestinian television, and stop assaults on the Palestinians journalists and attacks on their media institutions, as it contradict with the international laws, norms and charters.
It is noteworthy that the Israeli occupation forces, destroyed the headquarters of the Palestinian broadcasting corporation, in January 19, 2002, in El-Bireh city, consisting of five floors, four of which had been occupied by Palestinian television and the Voice of Palestine radio, also destroyed Palestinian TV building in Gaza city, in 10.212002, in addition to the shelling of the headquarters of al-Hayat al-Jadida newspaper and a number of media institutions headquarters several times during the current Intifada.
