Palestinian Center for Development and Media Freedoms (Mada) strongly condemn the kidnapping of Spanish photojournalist Emilio Morenati who works with the (AP) agency by armed Palestinian group at seven o’clock this morning (10.24.2006) in Gaza city.
Mada Center calls on the Palestinian Authority and government to work actively and immediately to release the photojournalist Morenati and prosecute those responsible for this crime and bring them to trial. It also confirms that the failure to prosecute those responsible for the abduction of journalists in the Gaza Strip in the last two years and the latest of which was the kidnapping of journalists Steve Centanni and Olaf Wiig from the Fox News Channel in 14 August 2006 had encouraged this armed group to kidnap Morenati.
