Decline of Media violations during last December

Last month witnessed a decline in media freedoms violation in the Palestinian territories, especially from the Palestinian sides, while the Israeli violations size increased compared to the previous month, due to the escalation of attacks carried out by the occupation forces, during last month, particularly in Gaza Strip and Nablus city, which led to dozens deaths and injuries.

Monthly Summary Report

(December7)- Associated Press(AP) photographer Iyad Hamad, and Reuters photographer Mohammed Abu Ghaneyah were arrested, by Israeli occupation forces, soldiers attacked them during the arrest, under the pretext of impeding their work, they were released after five hours, they informed both of them that they will be trialed, the soldiers also attacked (AP) cameraman Nasser Alshiokhi, France Press Agency Mousa Al-Sha’ar, during the four journalists coverage of a march against settlement expansion and the apartheid wall building, in Alma’sarah village, south of Bethlehem city.
(December 11)- Group of journalists including Palestinian Public TV correspondent Sa’eid Ayyad, ANN TV correspondent Munther Jaddoo, were prevented from covering representative of the international Quartet Tony Blair meeting with Chamber of Commerce officials in Bethlehem, by his guards.
(December 11)- Ap cameraman Ya’qoup Abu Ghalwah sustained bruises resulted from some debris falling, after Israeli occupation forces fired at the building, where he was with a number of journalists, to cover the Israeli forces invasion in Al-Fakhari town south of Gaza Strip.
(December 12) - Afaq local TV, Al-Najah Press Office, Ruwwad press Office, in Nablus city, were raided by Israeli occupation forces, they confiscated all their equipment and apparatus, and closed Afaq TV in pretext of its support “to terrorist movements", after they attacked technician of the television transmitter Sameh Qanadilu. It is worthy to mention that Israeli occupation forces had raided three television stations(Afaq, Sana and Gamma), and two radio stations (Koran and Jabal Al-Nar) in Nablus city in the twenty first of last May, and confiscated broadcasting equipment, and archival material from the headquarters, which has led to the suspension of broadcasting, they also penetrate the waves of Nablus TV, Sawt Al-Najah Radio, to broadcast military statements on twenty-fifth of last February, the following day raided Sanabil TV, and arrested its director Nabeg Braik ,confiscated its equipment. There are 8 local TV stations and 3 local Radio stations broadcast from Nablus city.
(December 12)- Aqsa TV cameraman in Hebron city Mohammed Halayqeh was arrested, by Israeli occupation forces.
(December 14)- Headquarters of Artistic and Television Production Company, in Gaza City, was raided by the Executive Force, they confiscated all its equipment.
(December 14)- Al-Hayat Al-Jadidah newspaper columnist Omar Al-Ghol,was arrested by the Executive Force, where an armed group raided his home in Gaza city, they attack him and searched the house and confiscated two computers,then and lead him to an unknown location, Hamas Spokesman has denied the Ghoul news of arrest on the first day, but the next day, the Ministry of the Interior spokesman in the of Ismail Haniya dismissed government confirmed Ghoul arrest, and said ( he is under investigation for violations of the law).
(December 16)- Aqsa TV correspondent in Nablus city, Tarek Abu Zeid, cameraman of several local television stations Sami Asi, were arrested by Israeli occupation forces, Asi released from Israeli prisons on the tenth of last May after serving 38 months in Israeli jails.
(December 20)- Reuters cameraman Nihad Shana’h was injured in the right leg, by Israeli occupation forces fire during their incursion of Masdar village in Gaza Strip.
(December 20)- Aqsa TV cameraman Rami Abu Deyah was wounded in the head, by shrapnel from a missile fired from Israeli helicopter, at Maghazi refugee camp (Gaza Strip).
(December 24)- APA agency photographer Essam Rimawi was summoned by the Palestinian Intelligence Service, in Ramallah city, he was questioned for five hours about if he has work relationship with Aqsa TV affiliated to Hamas, but he denied that
