MADA: Unknown persons raided the house of the journalist Al-Bakri in Khanyounis

The Palestinian Center for Development and Media Freedoms (MADA) condemns the house raid of Alhayat Aljadedah correspondent Nufouth Al-Bakri in Khanyounis in the south of Gaza Strip. The accident took place yesterday at night by unknown people.
Al-Bakri said that the police of the dismissed government called her today morning at 1:30 AM (22 September 2010) and told her that they found her house door opened, when she went there the door was broken and most of her media tools were stolen such as Fax, Phone, her Agenda and some of press papers.
Al-Bakri added: “the raid reason wasn’t for robbery, because the missing stuffs are only that I used them for the journalism work, and there were a lot of valuable things in my house but they still inside it. It’s worthy to mention that the house of journalists Al-Bakri was raided several times since the beginning of 2010 by the Internal Security Services of the dismissed government and by unknown persons. The last one was on 25 April 2010.
MADA center condemns this new attack on the journalist Al-Bakri’s house, and demands the concerned services to prosecute the perpetrators and bring
them to justice.
