In the framework of its continuous attacks against journalists and Palestinian media outlets, the Israeli occupation forces raided Afaq local TV, in Nablus city, yesterday (July 10). Afaq owner and director Issa abu El-Izz said they confiscated all its equipment and furniture, then they left on the front door, a military order of its closure, for one year.
This new attack on Afaq TV is not the first one, at the Israeli occupation forces had raided it and other media outlets in Nablus city in May21, 2007, and confiscated its equipment; the same thing was repeated on December 12, 2007.
Palestinian Center for Development and Media Freedoms (Mada) strongly condemns this new attack on Afaq TV, demands the international human rights organizations, especially those concerned in defense of freedom of expression, to exercise pressure on the Israeli government to reopen Afaq TV, to return back the confiscated equipment and furniture, to stop its attacks on Palestinian Media, and to free journalists detained in its jails.
