The Palestinian Centre for Development and Media Freedoms (Mada) had nominated Reuters cameraman Fadel Shana"a, and his assistant Wafa Abu Mezyed, for the Canadian Journalists for Free Expression Prize, which is awarded annually to journalists showed unusual courage, in the exercise of their profession under difficult and dangerous conditions.

Shana"a had been killed in the sixteenth of last April, Abu Mezyed was wounded, by Israeli tank fire, during their coverage of the Israeli invasion of the Juhr Al-Deek area near the Bureij refugee camp in Gaza Strip.

The Canadian Journalists for Free Expression is a Canadian non-governmental organization, aim to defend the rights of journalists, and contribute to the development of the defense of media freedoms in the world.
