The Palestinian Center for Development and Media Freedoms (MADA) Appeals to
Dr. Salam Fayyad government and to prime minister of dismissed government
Ismail Haniya to take the advent of Eid al-Adha to stop the prosecution of
journalists, and to release the imprisoned ones, to be able to celebrate
Al Eid with their families, relatives and friends.
Human history had proved that the suppression of freedoms, especially press
freedoms bring disasters to the peoples. The Palestinian people, who have
suffered various forms of repression over the past decades deserves to
enjoy all the freedoms guaranteed by the Palestinian basic law and the Law
of Press and Publication.
The Palestinian journalist who paid a high price for publishing the truth
deserves honor. And it’s so sad to see a lot of them are getting global
and regional awards, while many of them have been prosecuted and detained
by Palestinian security services in West Bank and Gaza Strip
MADA again call on both governments to stop all acts that violate freedom
of expression, and stop all forms of incitement in the media, and to allow
the journalists to do their professional job freely and safely, and not to
incarcerate them and media institutions in the internal Palestinian
conflict, which we hope to find a solution in the near future.
