MADA calls the media outlets to be objective and condemns Raid on “AlDameer”

The Palestinian Center for Development and Media Freedoms (MADA) regretted
the fact that many of the Palestinian media outlets exploited its releases
for their own political and partisan interests.

MADA noticed that some of media outlets twisting its statements and monthly
reports and entering words or phrases on the text (such as Abbas militias,
Hamas militias, Salam Fayyad illegitimate government, the abduction of …
etc.).

MADA also expresses its regret that some media organizations publish
MADA’s releases, which talk about violations of freedom of expression in
the West Bank without publishing of the violations taking place in Gaza
strip, and vice versa. These practices do not contribute to the protection
of journalists and of the promotion of freedom of expression culture.

MADA as an independent NGO demands media outlets to be objective,
professional and neutral, and not try to drag MADA into the political
conflicts in the Palestinian arena. MADA confirms that its goal is to
protect, help and defend journalists, whether they are in the West Bank or
Gaza Strip. MADA also calls upon all media institutions and journalists to
unite together and support its efforts to stop all violations of freedom of
expression in Palestine, regardless of the preparator.
On other hand MADA condemns the raid on Al Dameer for human rights
organization headquarters in Gaza, and the theft of some of its property.
And demands from the concerned organs to investigate the incident and bring
the perpetrators to justice.
