MADA condemns the crime of killing the journalist Arrigoni and demands to bring the killers to justice

 

Ramallah: 16 April 2011: The Palestinian Center for Development and Media Freedoms (MADA) strongly condemns the killing of Italian journalist and writer Vittorio Arrigoni, who was found dead yesterday morning in an abandoned house in the northern of Gaza Strip.

Armed group has announced the abduction of Arrigoni on the morning of Thursday 14 April, and demanded the Hamas government to release detainees from the “Jihad Salafist Group ". Arrigoni lived in the Gaza Strip for three years ago and wrote about the people’s suffering in Gaza, and participated in solidarity activities with Gaza Strip.

 

This heinous crime remembers us the accidents of kidnapping the foreign journalists in the Gaza Strip, which the last one was the kidnapped of BBC correspondent Alan Johnston in 12 March 2007, but he was released on 4 July 2007.


MADA center renews its condemnation of the murder of Arrigoni and calls to prosecute the perpetrators and bring them to justice. MADA expresses warm condolences to his family, friends, and the Italian people.
