Mada center expressed deep concern over the continuing rude violations of media freedoms in Palestinian territories, where the Palestinian security services members attacked a group of journalists in Hebron city yesterday, and prevented them from covering student sit-in organized by the Islamic bloc in front of Hebron University campus, to protest the raising university fees, where attacked assaulted a AP photographer Nasser Alshioukhi, France press photographer Hazem Bader, Reuters photographer Maa’mon Wazwaz and its cameraman Yusri Al-Jamal, and Al-Amal television cameraman in Hebron Imad Amayreh.
The onslaught of journalists in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, which escalate with the increase of the conflict between Fatah and Hamas, raises concern, and put large question marks about the commitment of the security services in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, of Palestinian laws, which guarantee freedom of opinion and expression, where they are supposed to be the first to be committed to laws application.
Mada center as condemns attacks on journalists, renews its call to stop onslaught on them, to prosecute those responsible for it, and bring them to justice.
