The Palestinian Center for Development and Media Freedoms (MADA) held a workshop yesterday (5 December), for journalists about “Freedom of Expression in the International and Palestinian legislations".  The workshop took place in Nablus city in the West Bank, and held in cooperation with foundation for future as a part of series of workshops in the major cities in West Bank and Gaza Strip.

The workshop was attended by 15 journalists and media outlets representatives. They were  trained by Mr. Jehad Harb,  the training aimed to introduce the participants about the principles of human rights in general, and freedom of opinion and expression, in particular, on the basis of the international charters legislations, and the Palestinian Basic Law, in addition to discuss the mechanisms of journalist’s protection.

At the end of the workshop, the participants exchanged opinions about the effectiveness way to imply the freedom of expression. They praised MADA’s role in monitoring violations against Palestinian journalists, defending and providing them with free consultation by the lawyers of the legal unit.

The participants emphasized on the importance of continuing holding similar workshops and targeting the media students, and new graduates.
