BBC World Service Trust donated video conference device to the Palestinian Center for Development and Media Freedoms (MADA), in the frame work of joint cooperation between the two organizations.

The local project manager in the Palestinian territories Eve Sabbagh has expressed her honour to cooperate with MADA center to support the freedom of opinion and expression in Palestine. Sabbagh also emphasized that the Palestinian Journalists can use the device to communicate with each other in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, and the rest of the world.

Director of MADA center Mousa Rimawi thanked the BBC Trust, the European Union, and the Dutch Representative in Ramallah for their support to MADA with video conference device.

Rimawi added that the video conference will help the journalists in their work and in their communication with each other. Also it will help MADA in enhancing its communication with media institutions and the journalists in Palestine and the rest of the world. As well as to enhance MADA’s relations with the partner organizations and institutions that working in the defence of freedom of expression, in particular, with the International Freedom of Expression Exchange (IFEX), which MADA joined its membership last year.

Rimawi also expressed his hope that the cooperation between the two organizations will be continued, in order to enhance the work of the Palestinian media and to promote freedom of opinion and expression in the Palestinian society.

The agreement which has been signed by Sabbagh and Rimawi, allows the journalists and NGOs to use the Center’s hall and the video conference device to serve their goals and work.

It is worth mentioning that the video conference device has been purchased within the project “Supporting the Media Sector in Palestine", which was funded by the European Union and the Dutch Representative in Palestine.
