MADA held its General meeting and elected its new Board

Palestinian Center for Development and Media Freedoms (MADA) held its General Meeting yesterday evening May 15, 2010. Where the administrative and financial reports for the year 2009 were discussed and approved, Also the election of the members elected the new board.

The members of the General Assembly had confirmed the importance of MADA’s work in defending the freedom of the press, where the center has become the main source of the issues that relates to the freedom of the press, Also they emphasized the need to develop its work in this field, and in the development of media in general, based on a strategic action plan.

The members of the General Assembly has expressed their satisfaction towards the great development of the canter's work and the expansion of its network relations on the domestic and international levels, Especially its joining to the International Freedom of Expression Exchange (IFEX) network ;the largest international gathering of international, regional and local institutions that work in defending the freedom of expression , which reaches to 88 members from different continents , where MADA became the only Palestinian institutions member of this important international gathering .

The General Assembly members also expressed their satisfaction toward winning the Press Emblem Campaign (PEC) first prize for its prominent role in defending journalists, the multiple partners of the center, and the new programs that MADA starts to implement; especially the legal defence of journalist program in the occupied Palestinian territories.

A new Board has been elected for the center, which in turn held its first meeting after the finish of the General Meeting and distributed the tasks among the members as follows:
