The Palestinian Center for Development and Media Freedoms (MADA) condemns the Israeli district Court’s decision in the city of Jerusalem, to imprison Alalam TV correspondent Khader Shaheen and producer Mohamed Sarhan.
The Office Director of Alalam TV in the West Bank Fares Sarafendi said that the court actually sentenced them two months imprisonment and six months Suspended imprisonment, but the defense appealed to the Israeli high court, where they will remain under house arrest till the court makes its decision.
The Israeli occupation authorities arrested Shaheen and Sarhan on 5 January2009, under the pretext of publishing information on the movements of the Israeli occupation army shortly before the ground war in the Gaza Strip, at the beginning of this year, they were released on 15 January on bail, and they were put under house arrest since that time, they were also prevented from their journalistic work, based on a decision of the District Court.
