The Palestinian Center for Development and Media Freedoms (MADA) expresses concern at the deterioration health of freelance journalist Mustafa Ali Sabri. His wife said that Sabri was transferred to the UNRWA hospital in Qalqilya city on Sunday (3 May),
after the deterioration of his health, as he suffered from a sharp rise in blood pressure, diabetes. She added that he had never suffered from these diseases.
Sabri was arrested by the Palestinian Preventive Security Service in Qalqilya on 21 March 2009, and he was arrested and summoned many times during the past year by Palestinian security services.
MADA condemns Sabri continued detention, which is a flagrant violation of freedom of opinion and expression, and calls on for his immediate release, especially as his continued detention may constitute a danger to his life.
