The Palestinian Center for Development and Media Freedoms (Mada) expresses its strong condemnation of putting explosive device in front of Al Jazeera TV office, in Gaza city, yesterday evening (March 7), and demands Ismail Haniyeh dismissed government officials to investigate this crime, and to prosecute those responsible, and bring them to justice.
Al Jazeera TV correspondent Wael Dahdouh, said that one of the office staff received a call from an unknown around 9 pm, who said “We want to blow up Al Jazeera, the ghosts of Samih al-Madhoun". They search and found an explosive device in front of the office, they called the police, whom dismantled it. They also found a paper written on it “think about the solution, the solution, is to leave- the ghosts of the teacher Samih Al-Madhoun."
From other hand, for the eighth day, the suffering of Dr. Esam Shawar, the columnist in “felesteen" newspaper, has been continuing, because of his daily detention by the Palestinian intelligence service in Qalqilya city, where he deatned in building under construction near the headquarters of the service in bad conditions, since he was summoned for the first time on March 2, and every day he was asked to return back in the next day, without being questioned or asked for anything.
The confiscation of Dr. Shawar ID card by the intelligence is preventing him from freedom of movement throughout the rest of the day and night.
Mada demands to halt Dr. Shawar persecution, which is contrary to the most elementary human rights, in an attempt to pressure him to stop writing and to express his views freely.
Mada congratulates women, particularly women journalists, on the occasion of International Women’s Day, and wishing them further progress and success.
