The Palestinian Center for Development and Media Freedoms (MADA) rapped up 2-day training on digital rights for journalists in Nablus city on Wednesday 11/10/2017.

The course tackled various aspects of the topic of digital rights, the right to access the Internet, access to information through it, exchange of information through it, local and international laws and legislations that dealt with this subject, and the advanced technology especially with regard to media and journalism work.

On the first day the training was conducted by the trainer M’amoun Matar, where he presented a definition of digital rights, the challenges faces digital rights especially at the local level, introducing the most important global digital rights, the right to communicate through modern technologies, clarifying the digital rights we need in Palestine and access to secure Internet. The trainer also referred to the violations practiced locally against journalists who publish on social media.

On the second day, the training was carried out by Mourad El-Sabaa, who dealt with the differences between digital media and other types of media, the use of digital media in the media, the new and different content it adds, and the media needed for digital media to be effective.

The participants in the training expressed the importance of implementing such training, especially in the new topics related to the press techniques, and the need to introduce journalists in Palestine to the laws related to this subject and the new technologies and information technology that are developing on a daily basis and called for organizing more similar courses to build and strengthen their capabilities.
