Ramallah- 08/10/2017- a delegation from Pen International today morning visited the Palestinian Center for Development and Media Freedoms (MADA) the delegations included Mrs. Jennifer Clement the president of the organization, Mr. Carles Torner the executive director and Dr. Hanan Ayyad from Pen organization in Palestine, were they met with Mr. Mousa Rimawi general director of the center and Ms. Razan Namari the advocacy officer.

During the meeting, Rimawi provided a summary of the reality of media freedoms in Palestine, that is subjected to violations and abuses, particularly Israeli ones, which is considered to be the most serious and dangerous that are escalating on a fast pace, the meeting also highlighted all MADAs’ programs and efforts in protecting and defending media freedoms in Palestine, in addition to MADA contribution to media law reforms to be in line with international standards.

 Rimawi also shed light on MADA’s current advocacy campaign that focus on combatting self-censorship and promoting digital rights, and assured that soon the center will focus on cyber-crimes recently adopted law that constitute a breach of freedom of expression.

Ms. Clement and Mr. Turner presented the efforts of Pen International for the Defense of Freedom of Expression and the support of writers who are being prosecuted in different parts of the world, including the Middle East region.

 Mrs. Clement also praised the efforts of MADA Center in the field of freedom of opinion and expression and media freedoms and stressed Pen organization  support for the Center's efforts and the possibility of opening horizons for future cooperation in order to promote freedom of opinion and expression.

The meeting included a broad discussion on the reality of freedom of opinion and expression and the challenges faced by journalists and media institutions, and the initiative proposed by MADA Center on the formation of the International Moot Court of to try the aggressors of freedom of opinion and expression in various continents.
