September 2016: The Palestinian Center for Development and Media Freedoms “MADA” represented by its general director Mousa Rimawi, was elected as a member of the new Steering Committee for the Global Forum for Media Development (GFMD). 

 

 

 The  Steering Committee  members elected Mr. Ricardo Corridor chairman of the Forum, they  praised the significant role the former chairman Mr. Leon Williams played in establishing and developing the forum, as currently it includes around 200 international/regional and local media organizations across the globe from different continents. in addition they also praised the role of  the GFMD staff,   and its executive director Ayman Mhanna on the exceptional work and all preparations for the conference and its success.

 

 

A delegation from  MADA center represented by its general director participated in the forum , along with about 500 journalists and representatives of media organizations, civil society, UNESCO, and some other donors such as the Open Society foundations, furthermore, the forum was organized  from September 20-22, 2016, held its fourth  international conference in Jakarta, Indonesia. 

 

 

The 2016 World Forum for Media Development entitled Decoding the Future: Rethinking Media for a New World, that was organized in partnership with the Indonesian Press Council at Multimedia Nusantara University in Tangerang, Participants shared best practices, new technologies and practical research, and helped each other finding solutions for challenges facing the sector and explore ideas that will sustainably enhance news coverage, access to information and protection of journalists. 

 

 

It also held on the sidelines of the conference many workshops and meetings addressing various topics related to media development, such as the coordination between the actors( media organizations) in the MENA region for the post-September 20, which was organized by the BBC Action.
