“MADA” appreciates signing a declaration on media freedoms by President Abbas
Ramallah- 3/8/2016 the Palestinian Center for Development and Media Freedoms “MADA” welcomes signing a declaration on media freedoms in the Arab World by Palestinian President Mahmoud  Abbas on Tuesday (2/8/2016), and his decision to consider the first of August of each year (freedom of expression and opinion day) in Palestine, hoping it will be a step towards the protection of media freedoms and to put an end to all violations Rather than holding perpetrators accountable for their breaches in Palestine.

We at MADA demand the official Palestinian authorities and various relevant parties to transform this step into a more practical and eloquent measures that aim to ensure putting an end to all violations against media freedoms in Palestine; through reforming and approving relevant laws, particularly (right to Access Information).

In this regard, we at MADA center express our appreciation for all continued efforts that have been made and still, in order to support media freedoms in Palestine ( locally, regionally and  internationally), by various media institutions, civil society organizations, including the Palestinian Journalists Syndicate, as we believe that protecting media and press freedoms is the main pillar toward developing media performance and enhance it to work more professionally and optimally, which consequently will promote freedom of expression and opinion in Palestine.
