MADA wrapped up 3 days workshop about “Access to Information”

Ramallah- 08 March, 2016: The Palestinian Center for Development and Media Freedoms “MADA”  wrapped up three days  training workshop, on–“Right to access information – building capacity” that is funded by the representative office of Finland in Ramallah.

 

 The workshop took place in Jericho with the participation of journalists from diverse cities and work experiences in media outlets across the West Bank and East Jerusalem.

 

Throughout the workshop Mr. Majed Arouri- a legal researcher and Mr. Raed Abdul Hamid- lawyer trained the participants on the right to access information from altered perspectives and angles, and how correspondent is the Palestinian law draft with the international standards, the workshop also highlighted the implication of publication crimes and its repercussions on media freedoms in Palestine.

 

Mr. Moussa Rimawi the general director of the Center started the workshop with a brief speech on MADAs’ recent programs and activities that aims to enhance freedom of expression in Palestine, despite all difficulties and complications of the current situation and all systematic attacks and violations against journalists and media outlets, Mr. Rimawi also assured the importance of enacting a Palestinian law on the right to access information, who hinted that a draft of the law was submitted to the government since two years.  

 

Lastly, all participants expressed their complete contentment, of the training level and how valuable it was, they greeted MADA on their efforts and for carrying out this beneficial training and demanded for more training courses and workshops that aims to build their capacities and raise awareness in media freedoms field.
