MADA and PNCECS discussed cooperation on IP Protection

Ramallah-18/01/2016: MR.Murad Sudani- the general secretary of Palestinian National Commission for Education, Culture & Science- received a delegation from Palestinian Center for Development and Media Freedoms “MADA”, headed by its general director Mr.Mousa Rimawi,  to discuss matual cooperation on Intelectual Propert protection, at the headquarter of the commission in Al-Bireh city-West Bank  on Sunday the 17th of January 2016.

 

Rimawi presented an overview of MADA center, and its programs on defending  freedom of expression, rather than developing  media, in addition to the role of MADA in monitoring and documenting violations against journalists, whether by publishing monthly, semi-annual, and annual reports, or by issuing special reports that publishing locally and internationally.

 

 

 Moreover, Rimawi talks about the role of MADA in providing legal consultations for journalists, rather than raising their consciousness to legal aspects regarding their works, in addition to advocacy and support campaigns that discussing different subjects such as access to information and digital rights. 

Furthermore, Rimawi indicates the role of MADA on the subject of reforming media laws, in addition to pointing out to the issuing of 12 studies, which was the most recent one, is the study about  Intellectual Property (IP) and freedom of expression.

Rimawi actually affirms the willing of MADA to cooperate with Palestinian National Commission for Education, Culture & Science regarding protecting Intellectual Property protection.

 

Hence, MR. Murad Sudani welcomes the idea of mutual cooperation with MADA on the subject of Intellectual Property, in addition to affirming the significant role of civil society institutions as complementary to the role of Palestinian Authority in the development of the Palestinian society, as well as being a partner of the nation-building process. MR. Sudani also confirms the need to continue the practical discussion of the subject in detailed plan.

 

At the end, MADA delegation thanked MR. Sudani for receiving them, in addition to thanking him for his readiness of  mutual cooperation with MADA.
