Ramallah- 03/04/2016 the Secretary General of the Palestinian National Commission for Education, Culture and Science Mr. Murad Alsudani Signed a Memorandum of understanding with the General Director of the Palestinian Center for Development and Media Freedoms “MADA” Mr. Mousa Rimawi on Sunday that aims to enhance the mutual cooperation.

 

The MoU aims to create cooperation in areas of mutual interest related to guaranteeing and enhancing freedom of expression, opinion and the protection of media freedoms.

 

The MoU includes the need to eliminate discrimination against any individual or any grounds that are not in line with the domestic laws or international treaties related to Human Rights, particularly freedom of expression and opinion that is considered to be a violation of Human Dignity, through preparing and holding workshops, meetings to discuss issues related to common areas of concern and interest.

 

 

The Secretary General Mr. Murad Sudani emphasized the idea of partnership and cooperation between the commission and “MADA” as this agreement is considered as an initial endeavor to enhance the role of media, education and culture, moreover it will enhance the role of “MADA” to achieve its objectives and activities efficiently.

 

Mr. Mousa Rimawi welcomed the agreement and expressed MADAs’ desire to establish a real partnership with the National Committee, as currently there must be a serious step and advocacy by all dedicated ones to achieve the best outcomes and results.

 

Mr. Rimawi also gave a brief of all recent progresses related to all media laws and drafts and emphasized the important of enacting modern laws in Palestine that are well harmonized and in line with International standards, and it’s the time that Palestinians must take serious steps  in that regard following the ratification of 40 International Treaties.

 

Mr. Rimawi also highlighted the importance of engaging Civil Society, and establishing a partnership with the government as the matter of freedom of expression is considered to be the cornerstone and important to all Palestinians, and it’s quite difficult for any society to develop politically or culturally without guarantying freedom of expression.
