The French Vice-Consul General Visits MADA

Ramallah - 1/7/2014: Mr. Samer Melki, the French Vice-Consul General in Jerusalem, visited the Palestinian Center for Development and Media Freedoms (MADA) this morning to better understand the work of MADA as well as the situation of journalists and media freedoms in Palestine. The meeting was attended by Dr. Gazi Hanania, Chairman of MADA, Mr. Mousa Al-Rimawi, General Director of MADA, and MADA staff.

 

 

Mr. Rimawi started by giving an overview of the activities and programs of MADA in the areas of media development and media freedoms. He mentioned the important work conducted by MADA to create a healthy legal environment for media freedoms in Palestine in cooperation with CSOs and governmental bodies, such as the drafting of a Freedom of Access to Information law. He answered Mr. Melki's questions regarding media freedoms and self-censorship in the country.  

 

 

Mr. Melki expressed his appreciation of MADA’s important work in the field of media development and freedom of expression in Palestine, and both sides discussed possibilities for future cooperation.
