Gaza - The Palestinian Center for Development and Media Freedoms ( MADA) conducted a training for media students of Al Azhar university, in Gaza.
The workshop that was organized over two days, with 25 media students, aimed to raise the students’ awareness about the concept of freedom of opinion and expression as well as the status of media freedom in Palestine and its negative impacts on the media and society development.
On the first day, the participants discussed the nation and international concept of freedom of opinion and expression, besides the status of freedom of expression in Palestine. The second day was specialized for the Palestinian laws relating to media. In addition to explaining the court system in Palestine, it included also a presentation for journalists on the draft law on access to information.

The participants expressed their great satisfaction about this two days training session, and how it was very helpful for them with all the subjects it covered, appreciating MADA’s role in conducting this training which allows them to actively integrate in important subjects as well as teaching them how to conduct their job as journalists in a safe way. This training was conducted by MADA as part of its project “ defending freedom of expression through a healthy legal environment ". It should be pointed that this session was held and will also be held in different Palestinian universities in The West Bank and Gaza.
