MADA Center Convenes Annual General Assembly Meeting

Ramallah – May 4, 2026 The General Assembly of the Palestinian Center for Development and Media Freedoms (MADA) held its annual meeting on Monday at the Center’s headquarters in Ramallah, during which members reviewed and formally approved the administrative and financial reports for the year 2025.
The meeting was chaired by Board of Directors Chairman DR. GHAZI HANANIA, who underscored the Center’s growing role and its mounting achievements at both the local and international levels, despite the formidable challenges confronting the media environment and the working conditions of journalists. DR. HANANIA emphasized that MADA has consistently delivered tangible results in the field of media freedom advocacy over recent years.

General Assembly members were briefed on the 2025 administrative report, which highlighted the Center’s continued leadership in protecting freedom of opinion and expression, advancing media development in Palestine, and driving improvements to the legal framework governing media work. The report also presented the most significant activities and initiatives carried out by the Center locally and internationally across its various donor-funded projects. The financial report was subsequently reviewed, providing members with a comprehensive overview of the Center’s fiscal standing.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the General Assembly ratified both reports following thorough deliberation. Members also issued a recommendation to the Board of Directors to intensify the Center’s engagement in the Gaza Strip, in response to the escalating needs of journalists there, particularly with regard to training, material support, and psychosocial assistance, the latter having become a cornerstone of the Center’s work since the beginning of this year.

It is worth noting that MADA has been committed since its founding to convening its General Assembly on a regular annual basis. The Assembly currently comprises 17 members who have fulfilled their financial obligations. The Board of Directors is elected every two years, with the current Board having been elected last year.
