Ramallah – 6th August 2024. The Palestinian Center for Development and Media Freedoms (MADA) condemns the ongoing crimes of killing Palestinian journalists since the beginning of the war of extermination against Gaza Strip last October, the latest of which was the martyrdom of journalist MOHAMMED ISSA ABU SAADA, bringing the number of martyred journalists to 168.
According to the statement of journalist MAZEN AL-BRIM, journalist MOHAMMED ISSA ABU SAADA (26 years old), who worked as a cameraman for the “Sada Al-Sharqiya” Network, was killed at around 5:30PM yesterday, August 6th, as a result of the bombing of his tent near his destroyed house in the town of “Abasan Al-Jadida” east of Khan Younis city in the southern Gaza Strip, after the missile hit it directly, leading to his martyrdom and the martyrdom of three (3) other citizens with him, as the cameraman arrived at “Nasser” Hospital in a civilian vehicle that was full of body parts.
This crime comes less than a week after the assassination of journalists RAMI AL-RIFI and ISMAIL AL-GHOUL, whom the occupation authorities admitted in a statement that they targeted for murder under flimsy pretexts, and also admitted that the killing of the journalists "was carried out in a joint operation between the General Security Service and the Army, and by an air force warplane.
MADA Center reiterates its condemnation of the systematic killing of Palestinian journalists by the occupation forces and authorities, and calls on all international organizations, especially those concerned with human rights and media freedoms, to put pressure on the occupation authorities to stop their unlimited crimes against civilians and defenseless journalists who have nothing but their journalistic equipment as their armor and have become a danger to the occupation forces, such as firearms and more.
