Ramallah – 8th June 2023 - The Palestinian Center for Development and Media Freedoms "MADA" deplores its strong condemnation of the occupation forces' attack on journalists during the storming of the Old City in Ramallah on Wednesday evening and Thursday dawn to demolish the house of one of the prisoners located therein.
The occupation forces committed many violations against media crews and journalists by firing live bullets, sound and gas bombs to prevent them from covering the occupation soldiers’ incursion into the city. At around 1:00AM, Arab TV cameraman, RABEE ALMOUNIR, was wounded by a rubber-coated metal bullet in his stomach. He received field aid and completed his work.
While the cameraman, MOMEN SUMRAIN, who works for "Palestine Post", was targeted with a rubber-coated metal bullet in the head from behind, while he was on the roof of a building near the prisoner's house, at around 3:30AM, today, Thursday. The cameraman was taken directly to the Palestine Medical Complex, where it was found that there was a concussion in the brain, a fracture in the skull, and hemorrhage under the brain membrane, according to the doctor supervising his case.
MADA expresses its deep concern about the continuation of the series of attacks on journalists and strongly condemns the use of excessive force against them, which constitutes a threat to their lives and a flagrant violation of freedom of expression and freedom of media work. It further demands an end to it and accountability for those responsible.
