Ramallah 19th August 2022 - MADA condemns the Israeli Occupation Forces’ storming of a group of Palestinian civil society organizations at dawn today, Thursday, in the cities of Ramallah and Al-Bireh.
The Occupation Forces stormed the headquarters of six human rights and civil organizations, wreaked them, confiscated their contents and equipment, and closed them, in violation of all international and humanitarian laws.
This violent and systematic attack against the abovementioned organizations, which began in October 2021 under a decision issued by the Israeli Occupation Army to classify these institutions as “terrorist”, aims to silence and prevent them from exposing the violations of the occupation against the Palestinians, and to prevent the world from knowing the crimes being committed daily.
Considering the extreme gravity of this criminal act against such organizations, and the attempts of the occupation and its tools that have been going on for years to destroy civil society institutions and their sources of funding, we call on international institutions to escalate pressure on the occupation authorities to undo their measures against these institutions and to stop the smear campaigns practiced against Palestinian civil society institutions and Palestinian human rights defenders.
