Ramallah – 4/6/2015 A delegation from the Palestinian Center for Development and Media Freedoms (MADA), formed MADA’s general Director General Musa Rimawi and public relations officer Ghazi Bani Odeh, meet with the president of the Palestinian Anti-Corruption Commission Mr. Rafik Natsheh, and Mrs. Rasha Amarna the legal adviser to the commission.

Mr. Natshe welcomed the delegation, and he stressed the importance of following-up the enactment of the law, and the commission dedication to this law, Natshe stated that: "We are concerned for this law as citizens and as an institution, we care for a continued follow-up for its approval, and we are ready to participate in all efforts to follow up the approval of the law, which we have presented to Dr. Rami Hamdallah the Palestinian prime minister,  after the National Committee discussion of the law ended.

Mr. Natsheh referred to the importance of the adoption of this law for the Palestinian society and the national authority, he also stressed the commission’s support for media freedoms, especially that it held two media conferences in the last two years.

Mr. Rimawi presented the reality of media freedoms in Palestine, and how it is difficult to talk about enhancing freedom of expression and media development, without a law to access information, and he expressed his esteem for the commission's efforts in this area, particularly its cooperation with the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers to form a national committee to discuss the matter and developing the new draft Law delivered to the Council of Ministers and put forward for public discussion on the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers and the commission’s web pages.

Mr Rimawi also stressed the need for civil and governmental institutions concerned to collaborate and join its efforts to convince the Palestinian government to speed up the adoption of the law and submit it to the Office of President Mahmoud Abbas for approval as a “law by presidential decree”.

During the meeting, ideas and ways for cooperation between civil society and governmental institutions were discussed to revive the efforts to enact the Access to information law in Palestine and to   promote  the importance of this law for citizens and journalists.
