Ramallah – 24 August 2011: The Palestinian Center for Development and Media Freedoms (MADA) published the second issue of its media specialized magazine MADA El-E‘lam, which covers a range of topics addressing local, regional and international media issues and performance.
MADA El-E’lam Editor in Chief Mousa Rimawi confirmed that the first issue of the magazine in the West Bank and Gaza was a critical success and garnered much positive feedback, and emphasized that the Magazine crew worked hard to embody media colleagues’ vision, particularly in regards to content, design and aesthetics.
Rimawi said that the number of magazine’s pages increased from 40 in the first issue to 48 in the second, after developing new magazine sections to increase the number of topics covered.
Rimawi added that the second issue of the magazine has sought to address and highlight a series of local media issues, pointing to the theme of the issue: addressing the reality and performance of local radio and TV stations, the current and future challenges they are facing, and Palestinian public opinion as to their performance as media providers.
This issue contains 21 articles; including a discussion if blogging in oPt is contributing to freedom of expression or is used as a platform for incitement and slander, an interview with the Director of Palestinian Media Government, a proposed law for Audio – Visual mediums, profiles on the Palestinian writer and journalist Ghassan Kanafani, and articles on: the ‘Israeli media – freedom of restrictions’, meetings between Palestinian and Israeli journalists, electronic media thieves, journalist’s safety, comics, the Rupert Murdoch scandal, and some Arab and International news related to freedom of expression.
