Ramallah - The Palestinian Center for Development and Media Freedoms (MADA) has produced a short film honouring the suffering faced by photographers’ operating in the occupied Palestinian territories. The film was produced in cooperation with the ‘Sinbulah Center’, and includes music from the artist Aida Al-Amricani who donated a song as a gift to Palestinian photographers.
MADA produced this short film in honour of Palestinian photographers who have paid the high price of continued Israeli attacks. In the past few years many have been killed, such as Reuter’s cameraman Fadel Shanaá, Aqsa TV cameraman Omar Silawi, and Palestine Public TV cameraman Ehab Wahidi. In addition, dozens have been subject to harassment, arrest, detention, and beatings every year, in clear violation of Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which
guarantees freedom of expression for journalists.
MADA also previously produced a film titled ‘Freedom’s Invasion’ documenting attacks on journalists and Palestinian media outlets in the
region.
