MADA won the Golden award for the Best Digital Media Campaign in the Middle East.
Ramallah- 29/2/2016 The Palestinian Center for Development and Media Freedoms “MADA” won the Golden prize in The Middle East Digital Media Awards competition, which was organized by WAN-IFRA, “the World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers”, that was declared in its conference in Dubai.
Mr. Mousa Rimawi- The General Director of MADA, said that winning this prestigious award is added to all recent achievements of the center, throughout the efforts of its outstanding crew, and the hard work of the trainers, journalists and media students who participated in the workshop organized by the center, where participants contributed in the campaign and promoted for either through their work in press, or over social-media and the " bloggers bus " with the cooperation of Mr Saed Karazzoun.
MADA launched last year “Digital Rights” campaign with the support of the International Network Defending and Promoting Free Expression (IFEX), that was the first campaign of its kind in Palestine, which aimed to raise awareness of citizens regarding their digital rights, since access to Internet became a fundamental right, that everyone should be entitled of “Internet access / The Right to Broadband”.
Mr. Rimawi assured that MADA will continue its pioneering effort in defending media freedoms, as part of its work to enhance freedom of expression in Palestine, despite all difficulties and obstacles resulting from the continuation of the Israeli occupation and the internal division, and its negative repercussions and consequences on freedom of expression.
