Fundraising and outreach officer

CONTRACT TYPE: Full Time. DURATION: 5 months with possibility of extension. START DATE: Immediately The Palestinian Center for Development and Media Freedoms (MADA) is an independent, non-governmental, and non-profit organization, established with its headquarters in Ramallah. The center operates throughout the Palestinian territories, working daily to develop the Palestinian Media and to promote and defend media freedoms and freedom of expression. MADA is looking for a full-time FUNDRAISING AND OUTREACH OFFICER based in Ramallah to play a key role in the development and implementation of MADA's fundraising activities in order to secure funding for programme work and organisational core costs. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Build on relationships with existing supporters/ donors, writing reports to meet deadlines and submitting further applications for funding. * Manage and lead the identification of, and approaches to trusts and foundations that have not previously supported the work of MADA, building on a monthly calendar of key prospects. * Identify and secure funding from overseas foundations. * Develop core generic trust proposals for each programme that requires funding. * Write tailored applications, addressing grant-making priorities or requirements. * Identify and submit applications for prizes and awards that will raise the profile of MADA and secure funding. * Representing MADA at meetings, conferences, donors meetings, and media at national/international events. PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: * Preferred master degree in Business administration/ Human Rights/ International Studies degree or any related field. * At least 3 years' experience in fundraising, human rights, freedom of expression as well as the work of NGOs in Palestine. * Excellent English (native speaker standard). * Relevant professional experience in Fundraising and report writing. * Experience in designing and implementing proposals. * Leadership, communication and advocacy skills. SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES: * Proposal writing in (ENG). * Strong written and oral communication skills. * Good knowledge of national laws and legislation. * Good knowledge of international human rights mechanisms. * Strong interest, knowledge and commitment to human rights, freedom of expression/opinion. * Strategic thinking and advocacy experience. * Interpersonal ability to work as a team. * Ability to work under pressure while maintaining professionalism. * Computer (MS-Office including MS-Project).
